The Sehat Card, part of the Sehat Sahulat Program, gives eligible families free hospital treatment using only their CNIC. This guide explains who is eligible, what it covers, how to check online, and how to find panel hospitals, in simple words.
Unlike cash programs, the Sehat Card pays the hospital directly for your treatment. You do not handle the money; you show your CNIC at a panel hospital and the covered treatment is cashless.
What is the Sehat Card (Sehat Sahulat)?
The Sehat Card is a health-protection program. It gives eligible families free in-patient (hospitalization) treatment at empanelled (“panel”) hospitals, up to a yearly coverage limit per family. It is separate from the cash support delivered through BISP and 8171.
You do not need a plastic card in hand to be treated. At a panel hospital, your CNIC is what confirms your cover.
How to check your Sehat Card eligibility online
You can check in two ways:
- By SMS: send your CNIC to 8500.
- Online: use the official portal sehatsahulat.com.pk.
The reply or portal tells you whether your family is currently covered. Because the rules have been revised over time, always confirm your current status rather than relying on an older message.
Who is eligible
Eligibility has changed over time and differs by province. It has often been based on the NSER poverty survey, while at times Punjab extended cover more widely to families. Because the policy has been revised, we do not state a fixed rule here.
The safest step is to check your CNIC at 8500 or on the official portal to see your current status.
What the Sehat Card covers
The Sehat Card generally covers in-patient treatment at panel hospitals, which can include surgery, maternity care, and priority treatments, up to a yearly limit per family. The exact coverage limit and the list of treatments can change, so confirm the current details on the official portal. Out-patient (clinic) visits are usually not covered.
How to find panel hospitals
- Open the official portal sehatsahulat.com.pk and find the panel hospital list.
- Choose a hospital on the panel near you.
- Go to its Sehat Sahulat desk and show your CNIC.
Treatment at a panel hospital is cashless for covered services, so you should not be asked to pay for them. If a hospital asks you to pay for a covered service, raise it with the Sehat Sahulat desk or the helpline.
Stay safe
- Only use the official portal sehatsahulat.com.pk and the 8500 check.
- Checking is free. Never pay an agent to “activate” your Sehat Card.
- Never share an OTP or pay anyone who claims they can add you to the Sehat Card for a fee.
