Apni Chhat Apna Ghar is a Punjab government scheme that gives low-income families an interest-free loan to build a home on a plot they already own. This guide explains who is eligible, the criteria, and how to apply online, step by step.
The scheme is for plot owners who need help with construction costs. The loan is interest-free, so you repay only what you borrow. You can find official details at acag.punjab.gov.pk.
What is Apni Chhat Apna Ghar?
Many families own a small plot but cannot afford to build on it. Apni Chhat Apna Ghar, which means “your own roof, your own home,” is a Punjab government scheme that lends the construction cost without interest, so a family can turn an empty plot into a finished house. Because there is no interest, the loan does not grow over time, and you repay it in manageable installments.
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar eligibility
Based on the official criteria, you generally need to:
- Be a permanent Punjab resident registered in the NSER with a PMT score of about 60 or below
- Be the head of family according to NADRA records
- Own a small plot, reported as 1 to 5 Marla in rural areas or 1 to 10 Marla in urban areas
- Not be a loan defaulter at any bank or institution
Criteria can change, so always confirm the current rules on the official portal. If you are not registered in NSER yet, our BISP registration guide explains how the survey works.
How much is the loan
As of 2026, the scheme offers an interest-free loan reported up to Rs 1.5 million (15 lakh) to build a home on your own plot. It is repaid in installments over about five years, with a short grace period, and you repay only the original amount. Treat figures as “as of” their date and confirm the current terms on the official portal.

- Paying an agent. Applying is free. No one can guarantee approval for a fee.
- Using a copycat site. Only acag.punjab.gov.pk is official.
